Grace Siregar has chosen contemporary art as her arena. Her work focuses on her inner reflections. She makes use of simple forms and calm colors, but creates unique artistic impressions. A glance at some of Siregar's pieces -- for example "Celebration In Grief" ("Berpesta Dalam Duka"), "Sun Worshippers" ("Pemuja Matahari"), "Don't Haunt My Mind Anymore" ("Jangan Hantui Pikiranku Lagi") and "Untitled" -- is enough to illustrate how vividly her inner reflections have been visualized on canvas.
Siregar uses the medium of poster color on canvas, which has its own distinct characteristics and produces works with a very specific aesthetics. Sometimes, Siregar visualizes joyful emotions through her work, in pieces such as "Jan van Stolk's Dancers" ("Penari-Penari Jan van Stolk"), but other works have a more somber tone, such as "The Silent One" ("Bungkam"). Siregar started painting when she was 6 years old, in Bangka Island, South Sumatra. She later continued her studies privately in the Netherlands.
Whilst living in the Netherlands, she was engaged as a Bisnis Indonesia correspondent for Western Europe.
