STATEMENT
Vision
My artistic preference is my personal opinion about the environment where I live, think, walk, with all freedom I have.
Background
Most of the Indonesians would not accept criticism wisely. Like a luxurious thing, honesty is scarcely found. It seems like a taboo. People would prefer to keep silent, since they believe that silence is golden.
Human interaction needs a rule to make the interaction harmonious. The rule is an attitude of honoring and respecting each other. Nevertheless, the rule is often violated for the sake of private interests. Is it originated in egoism or in other cause? In fact, it is important to be honest to each other that whenever we have problems we could solve them immediately. Being able to accept criticism wisely is not easy. Many people would be offended, though criticism is necessary for the good of all.
At this point I try to express the opinion in my artworks by visual languange with a certain aesthetic touch. Criticism exists as the result of the violation of norms created to harmonize social life. Criticism is needed as a reminder and to correct anything wrong.
Goals
I hope that my artworks would reflect social condition and suggest people to be more careful and wise in their behavior. At least, the works try to record various affairs resulted from the violation of norms, namely honoring and respecting each other.
My artworks is a medium of presenting opinion which is difficult to be uttered orally and would not be accepted easily by most people, especially Indonesians, though the opinion might be suitable to other societies as well. Generally speaking, my artworks reflect the condition of humanity.
Media
At the moment I use two-dimensional media, such as paper, canvas, and even wall. However, it is not impossible for me to use other kinds of media. The reason why I use two-dimensional media is that they are simple and easy to use.
a. Canvas
My foremost medium is canvas. I can use the medium everyday. Besides, I used to make comic drawings as a break and amusement whenever I am bored with using canvas. The comics I have made is simple, telling common stories without special characters in them. In general, the comics present something which is similar to what I present on canvasses. I produce and publish comic drawings by myself. The comic that has been completed is “Evil” and I used it as the catalogue of my exhibition at Frech-Indonesian Institute, Yogyakarta , 2000.
b. Wall
I use wall as a medium of expression. Wall is a most familiar medium for most people. Artworks are usually made for a limited group of people. It creates a gap between this group and the rest of people. I use wall to remove the gap. I join Apotik Komik in order to explore this kind of art.
c. T-shirt
I use this medium because I have once worked as a designer at a t-shirt factory some years ago in Yogyakarta . With this experience, I sometimes express my art by t-shirt. I made the first t-shirt manually without the help of modern technique of printing, but in the last few years I tried to apply the technique. Due to some technical difficulties I have not yet produced many t-shirts. I have made two designs which actually are copies of my paintings as souvenirs of my exhibition and three designs which I made purposely to be artworks.

Popok Tri Wahyudi's dynamic canvases are life-sized frames from a sinister comic book. His talents as a comic book illustrator are evident in both his illustrative painting style and narrative imagery. Each of Popok's paintings condense a whole comic strip into individual action packed canvases. One very large canvas is filled with a ship of fools tossing about on a dark stormy sea, this work represents the lunacy of the current political situation with the country adrift in rough waters while the helm is manned by fools and thieves.
