The concept of the LeBeau mural is about the society who lives on Nob Hill. Every day people come and go to their jobs. They leave in the morning and come back in the evening. It seems people who live around here don’t really care about the idea of “community,” they just want to spend their time being happy person. It’s the trap of being modern people – community is forgotten. When I was starting to do this mural, what came to mind for me was the life of bees – workers who spend everyday working to please their master. It seems like this in big capitalist societies, in big corporate societies, and in big government politics – every worker is like a bee who makes honey from nature and gives it to their master in order to make new bees that will work everyday. There’s no choice. And many rich countries take the treasures of nature from poor countries and give them nothing in return. They’re colonists and the worker is still a worker and they live for money and for their master.
