Asmudjo Jono Irianto
Profile

English

One concept of the evolving conscious is that one cannot create something that is not related to something, which has already been created. Asmudjo is influenced by the post-modern concept that there is no such thing as originality in art—that art need not have any correlation with the original; that visual art is unfettered by the original. "I don’t want to see the truth as an absolute". As an artist who normally works with ceramics and is dedicated to the use of precise techniques, Asmudjo mixes ceramic with other techniques such as painting, photography, metal sculpture, fibreglass and so on, depending on whose ideas and works are being copied.  Asmudjo, born in 1962 in Bandung, completed his studies in Ceramics at the Faculty of Fine Art at the Bandung Institute of Technology in 1990, and earned his Master’s degree in 1999. Since 1994, he has been curator of Soemardja Gallery at the Faculty of Fine Art at the Bandung Institute of Technology.

Bahasa Indonesia

Sejak 1994 menjadi kurator Galeri Soemardja FSRD ITB Bandung.
